Ofcom must think “radically” about reforming the public service broadcasting (PSB) model, Sky has argued.
Responding to Thursday’s Ofcom report into PSB delivery, Sky’s EVP and CEO, UK and Europe, Stephen van Rooyen, noted the changing landscape of UK broadcasting over the last five years.
“Now is the perfect time for Ofcom to think radically about how the existing PSB model can be reformed, so that all providers, including non-PSBs like Sky, can make an even bigger contribution to the UK broadcasting industry and the cultural economy,” he said.
The Ofcom report recognised “the large volume and wide range of content” offered by Sky.
