SIS LIVE to air World Darts Championship

SIS LIVE will provide television coverage of the William Hill World Darts Championship in London in December and January

SIS LIVE will provide television coverage of the William Hill World Darts Championship in London in December and January.

The company has extended its venue connectivity portfolio by adding Alexandra Palace to its list of fibre-linked locations.

SIS LIVE is providing main and reverse vision on fibre for Sky Sports’ coverage of the event, as well as covering satellite backup, which allows for switching to ensure a continuous service, if needed.

The action will be screened from 17 December to 3 January. SIS, which also supplied all connectivity services for the Rugby World Cup, already provide fibre network connectivity for more than 100 live event venues.

The provider’s feeds are supported by their broadcast teleport and network operations centre (NOC) at MediaCityUK.

Keith Lane, director of operations at Sky Sports, said, “It’s the party of the year with huge characters, huge crowds and huge check outs. But behind the World Championship is a serious live television operation to ensure if they can’t be there Sky Sports viewers can enjoy the next best thing on our dedicated darts channel. It’s vital we have a reliable and technically robust connectivity partner and SIS LIVE was the obvious choice.”
