Roku has launched its presence in the European smart TV market with a range of Hisense models powered by its operating system.
The company has sold its streaming devices in the UK and France for some time but this is the first time TVs featuring Roku’s operating system have been sold in Europe.
In the US, Roku TVs are sold under 10 different brands, which account for more than one in three smart TVs sold in 2019.
Now the company is expanding not only into Europe but also Brazil, with CFO Steve Louden recently telling Variety that “there is a lot of potential internationally.”
Roku CEO Anthony Wood said: “We are pleased to bring the Roku TV licensing programme to Europe and look forward to the first Hisense Roku TVs in market this year.”
