Alexa enables interaction with Roku

Alexa can now use Roku to launch, find or pause streaming content

Amazon has announced a new Alexa feature allowing the device to interact with Roku TVs and streaming players.

For example, Alexa-enabled devices (such as Echo Show or Echo Dot) can now use Roku to launch, find or pause streaming content via voice command.

Roku TV users are also able to turn on their TV, switch channels or change the volume using a command like “Alexa, turn up the volume on Roku.”

Roku OS senior vice president Ilya Asnis said: “Consumers often have multiple voice ecosystems in their homes. By allowing our customers to choose Alexa, in addition to Roku voice search and controls and other popular voice assistants, we are strengthening the value Roku offers as a neutral platform in home entertainment.”
