Italy’s public service broadcaster (PSB) RAI is preparing for its first 5G broadcast.
The project is a collaboration between RAI, the Ministry of Economic Development (MISE) and the Municipality of Turin.
Turin’s RAI Research Centre will broadcast high-definition 5G images via TGR Piemonte and RaiNews24, supplemented by 4K footage of the Piedmont area and the city of Turin on 24th June.
The technology will also be illustrated to a group of professors and students at the Polytechnic University of Turin, who will test 5G mobile phone reception through an innovative app with WiFi multicast technology.
RaiNews24 will direct the live broadcast of the event on Terrestrial Digital and on TivùSat, as well as streaming on RaiPlay.
