GeoPura has introduced a towable Hydrogen Power Unit (HPU), aiming to provide an alternative power source for lower loads, short-term projects and operations with limited grid access.
Developed in response to growing demand for flexible, clean power provision, the GeoPura HPU Agile-H is manufactured by Siemens Energy and features a Ballard fuel cell with integrated battery storage, said the company. Providing users with a flexible, mobile unit, HPU Agile-H delivers 80kW of stable, continuous power to meet the needs of shorter-term projects or productions in remote locations.
Towable by SUV or panel van, the solution can be deployed by a single technician in less than 20 minutes, with multiple units able to work together for larger power requirements. GeoPura provides remote monitoring and control, aiming to ensure reliable supply and ongoing operational support, added the company.
HPU Agile-H produces no carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide ot particulate emissions at the point of use, while quiet operation supports deployment in noise-sensitive locations.
The launch follows GeoPura’s recent merger with Ballard, aiming to extend the combined business’s range, supporting customers across the UK, Europe and North American markets with power requirements from 50kW to 50MW.
Andrew Cunningham, president of Ballard, said, “Hydrogen power needs to fit the way customers work. For some, that means supplying megawatts of electricity to a data centre. For others, it means getting power to a temporary site quickly, then moving it on when the job is done. HPU Agile-H gives customers that flexibility, with the reliability and responsiveness the job demands. It also removes diesel fumes and reduces noise, creating a better, safer working environment for those nearby.
