Broadpeak enables users to monitor energy consumption on streaming software

The feature aims to boost sustainability by empowering users to reduce their energy use

Broadpeak has announced it has introduced energy consumption KPIs on its monitoring portal.

The content delivery network (CDN) and streaming solutions provider launched the feature, which is available across all its solutions, to collect and display real-time consumption metrics on an intuitive dashboard, enabling users to accurately monitor and adjust their energy use in an effort to reduce consumption.

The solution provides data on instantaneous and total energy use along with maximum, minimum and average consumption. Additionally, wattage per CPU and RAM, watt per hour and various temperatures are tracked, allowing video service providers analysis into the impacts of streaming traffic in a centralised data point providing an overview for operational and support teams, said the company.

Jacques Le Mancq, Broadpeak CEO, said, “Adding this new feature on our monitoring portal underscores our commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of video streaming. With our latest innovation, we are excited to lead the industry toward more sustainable streaming. By adding energy consumption to the monitored KPIs, we enable operators to gain real-time insights into potential areas of improvement and implement the relevant actions to lower energy consumption.”
