Video Europe scales up with Sony

Broadcast rental firm Video Europe has added to its Sony line-up with a major investment in Sony’s HDC-2500 system cameras. The 40 channels of Sony’s HDC-2500s will be used across Video Europe’s dry hire, specialist projects and OB businesses as it continues to expand its portfolio.

Over the past year Video Europe has committed over £4 million in Sony’s camera technologies, adding to a range which includes both XDCAM decks as well as Sony’s Super 35mm 4K CineAlta F5 and F55 cameras. Video Europe’s technology investment was financed in part through media and broadcast leasing specialists, Azule Finance.

The HDC-2500 is Sony’s flagship live production camera, featuring 3G 1080/50P transmission as standard, as well as a 2/3-inch CCD sensor. The camera is able to record in multiple formats from 1080/100i to 1080/24p.

“When Sony unveiled its PMW-F5 and PMW-F55 cameras last year we knew instantly that they would be one of the hottest products of 2013 and represented the leading-edge large sensor cameras on the market,” commented Steve Green, managing director at Video Europe. “We were quick to capitalise on the phenomenal popularity of the F Series, and are pleased to now be expanding our fleet even further with this investment in Sony’s latest system cameras.”

“Our newly acquired Sony system cameras have already been integrated into our OB fleet in time for the action-packed schedule of UK live production events next year,” he added.

Dave Cheesman, north region sales manager at Sony Professional commented: “It’s part of the Sony ethos that we continually try to develop our customer partnerships as well as our technology in order to provide the very best in equipment, service and support for the long term – this latest sale of HD camera channels to Video Europe is a very good example of that philosophy in action.”
