US post production house Illuminate Hollywood is bringing its iConform 4K conversion service to the international market. It is claimed to upconvert SD programming to HD and Ultra HD standard, “generating new life and revenue from valuable, dormant assets at significant cost and time savings.”

Illuminate Hollywood has already used its proprietary technology to remaster TV series for CBS, 21st Century Fox and Universal Studios.

iConform has been used to create the HD versions of The X-Files, 24, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Steve Galloway, senior vice president, business development is touting the technology at MIPCOM (7-10 October). Galloway is “prepared to broker distribution deals for Illuminate Hollywood partners, serving as the conduit in finding new audiences for the enhanced, repurposed programmes” a release said.

“The libraries of major film and television studios, independent producers and distributors are full of assets sitting idle when they could be generating significant revenues,” said Galloway.

“This programming isn’t marketable because it doesn’t meet current HD broadcast standards. Illuminate Hollywood has clearly elevated the bar with iConform, giving content owners a new and economical way to transform top SD content into beautiful HD and 4K ready-to-go masters.”
