SMPTE will hold a regional seminar called ‘Digital Media: Production to Distribution Using IP’ at the Cinema TREVI in Rome on 9 November. The all-day seminar is free for SMPTE members.

The seminar will explore the use of media on IT networks, including both streaming and file-based workflows, and cover aspects of the media life-cycle including acquisition, production, broadcast, contribution and distribution. Topics covered will include a general overview of IP-based facilities and workflows, the architecture, processes and key building blocks necessary for a successful migration to IP, and roadmaps for the transition to IP by production teams, remote trucks, post production and broadcast facilities.

The seminar is part of the SMPTE Regional Seminar programme, designed to bring practical, one-day technical seminars to select local Sections. These seminars allow attendees to learn about a particular technology through a concentrated session taught by leaders in the field.

Those interested in attending can register at the SMPTE site.
