Spanish broadcaster RTVE selected SAPEC’s ALTUM family of encoders and decoders to carry HD content from London to Spain during the Olympics.
The new solutions use advanced compression algorithms – adhering to international standards – that optimise bandwidth while maintaining high quality signal.
Video and bandwidth requirements for use of the H.264 coding system in the H422P profile have reduced transport bandwidth requirements by almost 50 percent, enabling more signals to be carried using MPEG2 bandwidth requirements. This enabled RTVE to offer viewers uninterrupted HD Olympics coverage with the ALTUM solution deployed in London, Madrid and Barcelona.
