Renderboxes unveils Photon transportable workstation

Compatible with the latest Nvidia RTX GPU, Photon delivers HEPC performance in a transportable chassis

Renderboxes has announced the launch of its Photon transportable workstation for creatives working in the production industry.

Designed to meet the needs of creatives working across a range of locations, Photon provides High-End PC (HEPC) performance with processing power up to the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X 16 Core, up to 96GB fast DDR5 memory and dual NVMe Gen 5 storage. Featuring compatibility with the forthcoming Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU and all current Nvidia Ada-powered models, Photon is highly configurable and capable of performing for days or even weeks, said the company.

Built using aircraft-grade materials, Photon is engineered and tested to the same standards as Renderboxes’ larger models, with sufficient power supply and cooling to ensure critical components can run cooler for longer. Large-diameter fans ensure noise is minimised for easier working conditions. The package fits into a standard 1607 Peli Case.

Photon is fully certified and tested for compatibility with iodyne Pro Data, which is available with up to 48TB of NVMe storage and protected by hardware RAID 6 and encryption. Eight Thunderbolt ports ensure versatility and the solution delivers sustained 5.2GB/s read and 2.4GB/s write speeds.

Richard Rogers, founder and CEO of Renderboxes said, “Photon is the result of a challenge we set ourselves to build a transportable, small form factor workstation without compromising on performance and specifications. We’ve cut the size, but we haven’t cut corners. Our customers told us that they want power they can take on the road. Laptops have their place, but they can’t come close to the scale of performance we’re getting with Photon.
