Broadcast dry hire and systems rental specialists Presteigne Charter has chosen Custom Consoles Module-R studio furniture for a transportable international broadcast centre to be used for the televising of large-scale sports events in London during July and August. The contract, including a total of 150 19-inch wide desk bays, is the third of its kind to be placed by the company with Custom Consoles.

“The Module-R range was developed to give broadcast system integrators and their customers the freedom to design and configure studio furniture for a very wide range of applications,” commented Custom Consoles’ Commercial Director Graham Buchanan. “Presteigne Charter has ordered a number of such systems from us over the years for use at various broadcast-related events. It was one of the first dry hire facilities to recognise the full versatility and strength of Module-R and the furniture’s compactness when dismantled and packed for shipping. Like all Custom Consoles furniture, it is designed to allow efficient installation of broadcast hardware together with signal and power cables. Equally important, it is designed to allow comfortable long-term operation and to provide high structural integrity.”

“This latest order was for a combination of pre-built desks in flyaway two-bay-wide and three-bay-wide configurations, complete with legs, plus a total of 62 equipment storage pods,” added Sales Manager Gary Fuller. “Each desk can be used in isolation, as a video editing station for example, or combined to form a wide structure accommodating the equipment and workspace for an entire live-programme production team. The flyaway versions have the same dimensions as standard Module-R furniture but with easily removable worktops for efficient transportation.”

Module-R desks, storage bays and the matching Media Wall monitor display mounts are used by broadcasters, playout facilities and independent production centres in many countries as well as by clients in other industries. A mix-and-matchable control room furniture range, Module-R allows aesthetically pleasing and long-life control-room desks to be produced from a selection of high-quality pods, base sections, 19-inch rack housings, worktops, end-panel modules and legs. Co-ordinated desk pods are available as single-bay sections with up 10 rack-unit chassis capacity. Module-R cabinets are constructed from high-quality veneered MDF. Other features include cable access to front worktops, optional 19-inch rear-desk equipment pods, ventilated front-access panels and hardwood worktop edging.
