Canon gives users ability to control studio cameras from a smartphone

The Multi-Camera Control smartphone application for iOS devices allows users to seamlessly connect, control and monitor up to four cameras at once

Canon Europe has announced a new Multi-Camera Control smartphone application for iOS devices.

It allows users to seamlessly connect, control and monitor up to four cameras at once and is compatible with the XF605, EOS C70, EOS C300 Mark III and EOS C500 Mark II.

The control enables users to remotely operate optical zoom, exposure control, touch auto focus, picture profiles and more. In addition, up to four camera live view feeds can be monitored simultaneously in high quality and with minimal latency, said Canon.

Canon has also revealed a number of firmware updates for the XF605 camcorder and Cinema EOS cameras. The XF605 professional camcorder now includes advanced SRT IP streaming support, enabling high quality and reliable video streaming over Wi-Fi or Ethernet networks.

A new Chunk Transfer Function allows bitesize uploads of long duration recordings via FTP using Canon’s Content Transfer Mobile app to enable more efficient workflows for breaking news, said the company.

Further enhancements to the XF605 include the addition of Canon 709 picture profile, previously seen in Cinema EOS cameras, as well as further customisation options to the waveform monitor and vectorscope size and opacity.

The EOS R5 C, EOS C70, ESO C300 Mark III and EOS C500 Mark II cinema cameras now benefit from extended lens compatibility with the latest Super 35mm Flex Zooms, RF Mount Cinema Primes and cutting-edge RF 24-105mm F2.8L IS USM Z, said Canon. A digital teleconverter function also enabes lenses to reach even further with in-camera digital magnification.
