Peel selects TSL for Salford Quays

TSL has announced an important contract with Peel Media Ltd, one of the UK's leading property and transport organisations, that will see TSL working as technical design consultants for Manchester's Mediacity:uk. Mediacity:uk, will be situated at Manchester's Salford Quays on a 200 acre site and will be the UK's first purpose-built media city.

TSL has announced an important contract with Peel Media Ltd, one of the UK’s leading property and transport organisations, that will see TSL working as technical design consultants for Manchester’s Mediacity:uk. Mediacity:uk, will be situated at Manchester’s Salford Quays on a 200 acre site and will be the UK’s first purpose-built media city.

It will provide an internationally significant hub for the media and creative industries, with the UK’s leading broadcast, media and technology companies at its heart. A key part of the project is the move of five departments of the BBC to Mediacity:uk including BBC Children’s, BBC Children’s Learning, BBC Sport, BBC Radio Five Live, and parts of BBC Future Media and Technology. The project is scheduled for completion in 2011 and will be based on HD technology.

“Mediacity:uk is one of the biggest media and creative industry projects in Europe and will be a major commercial boost for the North of England. TSL was selected after a lengthy review process and the company demonstrated that it has an impressive portfolio of successful design and systems integration on a number of key projects both in the UK and internationally,” commented Stuart Rimmer, construction manager of Peel.

Mediacity:uk will have state-of-the-art HD facilities and will put Salford on the map as one of the largest providers of broadcast services in the country, capable of attracting both domestic and international production,” added David Phillips, CEO, TSL.
