PLASA London held this year at ExCel, proved a huge success with exhibitors and visitors alike. Over 11,000 visitors made the event, with more than 2200 attending from 84 countries. Stand rebookings for PLASA London 2014 are up on last year and major companies including Philips Entertainment are in talks to exhibit next year.

Chris Toulmin, head of Events, PLASA London 2013, said, “The response we’ve received to PLASA London 2013 has been overwhelmingly positive, both from visitors and exhibitors. They have embraced the new venue and also enjoyed the new features such as the AudioLab Arena, Theatre and Interactive. The PLASA team has worked very hard to get to this point, and while we acknowledge that we have more work to do – in certain areas of the exhibition – we feel it has provided a great starting point for the future development of the show and are excited by the possibilities before us.”

The new AudioLab was a big draw for audio professionals and nearly 5000 visitors were treated to demonstrations of the latest technology. AudioLab Interactive sessions and the Audioab Theatre also drew crowds, with talks given on a wide variety of sound issues.

The Professional Development Programme again proved popular, with case studies on large-scale events such as Eurovision 2013 and a behind-the-scenes look at the staging of the new production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The 275 exhibitors kept the show floor entertained with interactive demonstrations, dancing balls of light and even an animatronic camel. New product launches included Focusrite’s RedNet range of Dante powered audio networking interfaces, the Le Mark Dirty Rigger LED series gloves, Avid’s UK debut of the new Avid S3L live sound system, and Roland’s VR-50HD all-in-one AV Mixer with outputs for web streaming and recording.

Ten winners received a PLASA Award for Innovation for the development of technologies and products that advance the industry by demonstrating a new style of thinking, improving technical practice or taking a key step forward in terms of safety.

PLASA London 2014 returns to ExCeL on 5-8 October 2014.
