New ultra-miniature connectors from Fischer

Fischer Connectors has released a small, ultra-miniature connector, called MiniMax 06, as an extension of its miniature high-density product range, the Fischer MiniMax Series

Fischer Connectors has released MinMax 06, a small, ultra-miniature connector.

The connector serves as an extension to its miniature high-density product range, the Fischer MiniMax Series.

The MiniMax 06 connector can include up to 12 power and signal contacts in a footprint of 10 mm. This corresponds to a density factor (receptacle diameter divided by the number of contacts available in the receptacle size) of 0.83, which Fischer claims is a unique technological feature for a connector with standard 0.5 mm contacts.

Also available as a pre-cabled solution, it is geared toward handheld or body-worn applications when space is limited, in such fields as defense and security, instrumentation, testing equipment, civil or military unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), among many others.

With the new smaller connector, Fischer Connectors is aiming toward combining signal and power connectors as a way of making electronics lighter and smaller. Tested for high-speed protocols such as HDMI and data transfer up to 10Gb/s, the series attempts to address the need for higher data transmission rates.

“This product proves that miniaturization in connectivity can be successfully implemented in rugged high-density connectivity solutions that combine power and signal”, said Wim Vanheertum, Fischer Connectors’ MiniMax product manager.

“We’ve extended our Fischer MiniMax Series to address application engineers’ need to increase the performance of their miniature rugged devices. Handling more mixed signal and power connections in a unique combination of multiple contacts also means increasing flexibility in meeting specific design challenges in miniaturisation.”
