Over 300 LiveU IP-bonding units are to be used to help cover the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The units will be implemented by more than 80 international broadcasters.

LiveU, a provider of IP-based live video transmission solutions, will help the broadcasters deliver an estimated 15,000 live video sessions, spanning a potential 50TB of data.

The provider was present at the FIFA World Cup 2014, where it transmitted from 12 varied locations throughout the country.

Samuel Wasserman, LiveU’s CEO, said, “We’re already seeing tremendous build up to this year’s Rio Olympics with multiple orders coming in from our customers worldwide.

“Continuing our success supporting large global sporting events, we’re looking forward to playing a central role in bringing live action to viewers around the world.”

LiveU will deploy the LU500 and the lightweight LU200, the LU-Smart mobile application and the signal-boosting Xtender external antenna.

In addition, LiveU’s cloud-based MultiPoint distribution service, which integrates into the LiveU Central management platform, will enable customers to simultaneously share live feeds with up to 100 concurrent destinations worldwide.
