Troy Studios in Limerick will be the home of the new Syfy series based on George RR Martin’s Nightflyers.
Syfy has confirmed a series order for the show which will be distributed outside of the US by Netflix. Nightflyers is based on Martin’s novella of the same name.
According to the Limerick Leader, production is due to begin in the next few weeks and run until August. The series is already using six workshops at the studios.
Mike Cantwell of Innovate Limerick told the newspaper that “we believe it is the biggest production that was ever done in the Republic”.
Meanwhile, HBO has confirmed the new, and final, series of Game of Thrones will not air until 2019. No reason for the delay has been given, although there is speculation the final six episodes could be 90 minutes each in length.
