ITV chooses Deluxe to support channel launches

Deluxe has expanded its relationship with ITV to encompass asset preparation for recently launched channels ITVEncore and ITVBe

Deluxe has expanded its relationship with ITV to encompass asset preparation for recently launched channels ITVEncore and ITVBe.

The relationship was formed as part of ITV’s vision to modernise its content-delivery workflow, which included bringing VoD fulfillment work in-house. Deluxe is responsible for pre-distribution preparation of all ITV assets for linear transmission and VoD platform delivery, across both acquired and commissioned content.

This work includes ingest and file receipt, transcoding, compliance edits, quality control and metadata capture of content, as well as the creation of subtitle files and audio description for all ITV channels. Deluxe is delivering an average of more than 100 DPP-compliant files daily to fulfill demand for ITV multiplatform deliveries.

Helen Stevens, director of broadcast operations at ITV, commented: “We needed a partner who was agile enough to handle large volumes of content and able to scale up when we hit peaks, such as launching new channels or delivering to additional platforms. We saw the benefit of our allience when we smoothly launched ITVEncore this summer, swiftly followed by ITVBe last month. Deluxe offers scalability and reliability and have been an integral part of the successful migration to file based workflows.”

“In addition to our investments in this project, our newly streamlined workflows give us earlier visibility of commissioned content, enabling us to plan and prepare the media access service we also provide to ITV more accurately and efficiently,” said Lesley Marr, chief operating officer of Deluxe Media Europe. “We have also developed our own data capture and reporting tools, which integrate into ITV systems to automate the receipt of orders and give the ITV teams visibility of the progress of any content through the supply chain. Using an end-to-end file based workflow, we’ve already processed over 10,500 content hours in the four months since the project transitioned to BAU in late May.”
