German shopping finds tracking ideas

HSE24 DIGITAL, the new broadcast service from Germany’s first Teleshopping Channel HSE24, is to use a dual-channel solution from IdeasUnlimited.tv for automated compliance recording, signal verification and fault-tracking.

ContentProbe CRF2000 uses one channel to digitally record all transmitted content for the statutory 90 days under German law, while its Media FingerPrinting technology on a second channel verifies signals and monitors for errors such as audio or video loss.

Under German regulations, broadcasters must be able to produce any content broadcast within the previous 90 days. ContentProbe Compliance eliminates time wasted on manually recording, archiving and retrieving transmitted content using VHS tapes and also saves storage space. It also prevents problems of unreliability, tape-wear and faulty tape heads.

ContentProbe stores content internally and enables authorised users to browse transmitted content from their desktops. HSE24 DIGITAL is also using ContentProbe FaultTracker with Network Alarms and alerts via SMS. FaultTracker alerts operators remotely to problems such as no picture/audio, colour bars or no colour.

HSE24 DIGITAL made the purchase through system integrator Dimetis. “IdeasUnlimited.tv’s automated compliance recording and fault-tracking are weights off my mind,” said HSE24 VP Broadcast Technical Dieter Baron. It frees the technical team’s time so operators can concentrate on more creative aspects of their jobs, safe in the knowledge we’re still meeting our legal obligations.”
