Gefen adds 4K to its ToolBox

Gefen has released a selection of connection products that support Ultra HD, adding seven new models to its ToolBox line.

Gefen has released a selection of connection products that support Ultra HD, adding seven new models to its ToolBox line, including splitters for HDMI, which send A/V to multiple displays, and matrix/switchers for HDMI, which access multiple sources with matrix switching to one or more displays.

“All of these new products include backwards compatibility with 1080p or 2k resolutions making them very useful additions to any existing or newly installed system that wants to be viable in the near future too,” said Hagai Gefen, president, Gefen.

Three new ToolBox Splitters for UHD can distribute one input to two outputs (1:2), one input to four outputs (1:4) or one input to eight outputs (1:8) for HDMI. Resolutions up to 4K can be delivered to all connected displays at the same time with support for HDCP. All three splitters utilise Gefen’s Fast Switching Technology (FST), which vastly improves the HDCP authentication process and eliminates any video loss when powering on/off displays in the same distributed system. HDCP and 3DTV pass-through are fully supported.

There are also three new ToolBox Switchers for 4K, available in 4×1, 4×2 and 6×2 configurations. The 4×1 Switcher gives access to four sources using one display with the ability to switch between all sources. The 4×2 Matrix Switcher gives access to four sources using two switchable, independent displays. The 6×2 Matrix Switcher gives access to six sources using two switchable, independent displays. They also include Gefen FST.

Gefen also has a new ToolBox Extender for UHD, delivering resolutions up to 4K along with RS-232 and bi-directional IR using one fibre optic cable. Distances up to 300m can be reached using this sender/receiver system along with a single fibre optic cable terminated in SC.
