Facebook updates Live, Watch Party and Creator Studio

Announces new features at IBC

Facebook has announced a range of new features for video creators across Live, Watch Party and Creator Studio.

The updates announced at IBC include rehearsals, trimming and extended duration on Live; scheduling, replay and branded content on Watch Party; and 13 new languages for auto-captioning on Creator Studio.

Publishers can now broadcast a Live video only to Page admins and editors, making it easier to test new production setups, interactive features and show formats in a rehearsal. They can also trim the beginning and end of a Live video, and lengthen the maximum duration of Live videos to eight hours when broadcasting via the Live API.

“We’ve also recently rolled out Live on Facebook Lite,” added the company, “enabling more people around the world to watch and share Live videos. This opens up new global audiences for broadcasters.”

Meanwhile, the scheduling feature enables a Page to schedule a Watch Party in advance, along with replays allowing people to experience Watch Parties after they air, and the roll-out of Live Commentating to Pages around the world.

Facebook also announced a new Distribution metric in Creator Studio that gives a score to each video’s performance, as well as support for 13 new languages for auto-captioning, including Arabic, Chinese, German, Hindi, Italian, Malay, Russian, Tagalog, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Urdu and Vietnamese.
