Blackmagic boosts iPhone connectivity with Camera ProDock

The company also announced a series of hardware and software upgrades for Apple ProRes RAW across its product suite

Blackmagic Design has announced the launch of its new iPhone dock.

Designed to enable professional camera connectivity with the Apple iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Pro17 Max the Blackmagic Camera ProDock works with the Blackmagic Camera app adding support for external timecode, audio, genlock, SSD recording and more.

Aiming to enhance production flexibility, the dock provides users with the connections required to build a custom rig, as well as supporting high end Blackmagic Camera app for iPhone features such as ProRes RAW. Connections are provided for HDMI monitoring, microphones, headphones, genlock, USB C for external disks and power, enabling integration with industry standard equipment including lens control accessories and timecode generators.

The dock’s power management system ensures everything can run at the same time while powering the iPhone. 3.5mm connections allow microphones and headphones to be used and a full-size HDMI output enables on-set monitoring. Three USB-C ports are included for connection with accessories.

Blackmagic ProDock uses Blackmagic Camera in support of the iPhone’s video features for high-end productions. Featuring the same interface as Blackmagic’s cameras, users can adjust frame rate, shutter angle, white balance, ISO and with a single tap, or record directly to Blackmagic Cloud in industry standard files, enabling collaboration on DaVinci Resolve projects with editors anywhere in the world, all at the same time, said the company.
