Automobile firm Audi will use the DVC ClipDisk for its future HD presentations, for example for international exhibitions. The ClipDisk can play back MPEG HD footage using data rates of up to 80 Mbps to achieve striking picture quality, writes Fergal Ringrose
Beside the picture quality, ClipDisks MediaControl Software was the deciding factor for Audi. With this software several players can be controlled and synchronised over an IP network.
In addition the ClipDisk has a removable hard disk for the high definition data while the Linux operating system boots from flash storage. With the optional Shuttle Box the removable hard disk can be directly connected via USB to any Windows PC allowing HD sequences to be easily copied using Drag & Drop.
The ClipDisk is available with DVI as well as with HD-SDI outputs, in a 1U 1-channelplayer option up to a 4U 4-channel-player option, as well as the ClipDisk 3D for stereo. The IP network support and the additional RS422 interface turns the ClipDisk into a universal HD player for fixed installations as well as for mobile use at exhibitions, events and displays.
