FYI Television, now part of Ericsson, has been selected by media and marketing company Gannett to provide TV listings across its USA Today network.
The multi-year deal will see Ericsson provide TV listings services for both Gannett’s print and digital products including USA Today, and a raft of US titles across the USA Today network, including The Arizona Republic, The Indianapolis Star, The Louisville Courier-Journal, The Wilmington News Journal, The Des Moines Register and The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle to name a few.
Ericsson will create and deliver a wide range of customised content tailored to each Gannett property including daily TV grids, weekly magazines, tabloids and/or broadsheets including grids, categorised breakouts, photos, and a wide range of feature options. Ericsson will also deliver digital listings for e-editions and interactive web grids.
Joanne Lipman, chief content officer, Gannet, said: “We are pleased with the depth and breadth of information FYI Television is providing to our readers across multiple platforms. We strive to deliver trusted content that brings value to our readers, and we feel that this partnership provides us with yet another opportunity to do that.”
Thorsten Sauer (pictured), head of broadcast and media services, Ericsson, commented: “In a world of anywhere, anytime TV, the role of content discovery is more important than ever before. Rich and editorially relevant programme descriptions and images and consistent and accurate information is key to enhancing navigation. We are proud to work with Gannett as its exclusive partner; together we aim to provide an unparalleled TV listings service for US TV audiences from coast to coast.”
Earlier this year, Ericsson completed its acquisition of US-based global TV metadata and entertainment image content provider, FYI Television. Around 150 FYI Television employees joined Ericsson as part of the acquisition.
Ericsson’s global content discovery portfolio now spans more than ten million movies and programme titles covering over 35 languages. Ericsson’s 300-strong editorial team creates and delivers rich metadata, along with images from its library of around 1.7 million stills, to more than 12,000 TV and VoD channels.
