Net Insight enhances Cloud video for broadcasters, Red Bee powers TV5MONDEplus, and more

TVBEurope rounds-up the latest news from Net Insight, TV5MONDE, Red Bee, Dotscreen, Broadcast Solutions and TVC Solutions

Net Insight has announced the next generation of its open Cloud delivery solution, Nimbra Edge.

The platform can be used by broadcasters for ingest and delivery of any live media streams, in any format, to multiple destinations across any IP network.

Nimbra Edge is built on open standards, supporting all major industry re-transmission (ARQ) standards (RIST, SRT, Zixi), as well as enabling service providers to deploy any mix of private, hybrid or public Cloud network.

New features include:

  • An open API for creating communication with any external service., which gives maximum flexibility to integrate with existing management systems for automatic network control. In addition, built-in authentication enables rights holders, content owners and service providers to directly publish and monetise live content in the Cloud.
  • Nimbra Edge automatically measures the resilience, success and quality of streams to reduce troubleshooting time and ensure uninterrupted viewer experiences.
  • The Nimbra Edge system enables automatic time-stamping and stream alignment of live inputs from multiple cameras in any location. This makes easier to keep video in sync across all destinations, removing any video skipping, lip sync errors and misaligned camera angles.

“We’re giving our customers the tools they need to reach the biggest audiences, launch flexible transport services quickly and reduce risk. That means driving cloud transformation that’s built on openness, enhanced agility and efficiency,” said Net Insight CEO, Crister Fritzson. “The latest version of Nimbra Edge and the integration with our existing platforms mean that our customers can get high-quality results with any blend of public, private or hybrid networks. Crucially, they can also build on their existing Nimbra hardware as they move toward the Cloud, so they can avoid discarding previous investments.”
