Big Blue Marble adds C2PA verification to Cloud Video Kit

The standard provides a verifiable record of where video content came from and how it was processed

Big Blue Marble has announced it has been added to the C2PA Conformance List, enabling the company to generate valid Content Credentials for video content through its Cloud Video Kit.

Founded in 2021 by Adobe, Arm, BBC, Intel, Microsoft, and Truepic, the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) enables content verification across supported video players. Aiming to tackle the spread of misinformation and AI-generated media, Content Credentials attaches cryptographically signed metadata to a video file, recording its origin, editing and processing steps and the tools used in its creation. Viewers can check credentials directly with an on-screen web tool.

Big Blue Marble will offer the standard as an option for VoD through its Cloud Video Kit, generating Content Credentials during transcoding as part of the processing workflow. Credentials are visible to viewers directly in the player, said the company. Additionally, Big Blue Marble can guide clients through CAWG certification, a related standard for authorship claims.

Dawid Gorniak, Big Blue Marble’s head of cloud OTT and product manager, commented, “Anyone can claim a video is authentic. C2PA lets you show it. Our clients publish content that people need to be able to trust, and now they can sign it as part of their normal delivery process in Cloud Video Kit. No extra tools or separate workflows, the credentials are simply generated while the video is being prepared for delivery.”
