Lawo and Skyline partner on Dynamic Media Facility resource scheduling solution

Building on the momentum of the EBU's DMF programme, the companies are collaborating on an integration between Lawo HOME and Skyline DataMiner

Lawo and Skyline Communications have announced a joint resource scheduling solution for Dynamic Media Facilities.

In line with the increasing momentum of the EBU and others’ Dynamic Media Facility (DMF) initiative, the two companies are collaborating on an integration between Lawo HOME and Skyline DataMiner. Including automated scheduling, advanced and granular utilisation and system monitoring in addition to a resource and license provisioning approach, the solution will be demonstrated at IBC with the two companies aiming to foster discussions around operational planning in dynamic production environments.

“Lawo and Skyline have presented our joint solution back at NAB the first time, at IBC we will demonstrate our latest add-ons and improvements including support for the most recent Lawo HOME Apps, said Thomas Gunkel, Skyline Communications’ market director broadcast.

Tracking current processing resource utilisation, the solution monitors scheduling application requests, aiming to enable frictionless operation across the entire infrastructure via an intuitive UI, said the companies.

Axel Kern, senior director of cloud and infrastructure solutions at Lawo, said, “Software-based signal processing for live productions enables media facilities to dynamically change their production setups, both ad hoc and on a scheduled basis. Leveraging the full potential of a Dynamic Media Facility setup inherently hinges on an orchestration layer that fully automates the provision of processing apps, licenses, CPU cores and network capability as well as the ability to forecast utilisation and potential collisions of resource requests.”
