M2A Media and Irdeto have joined forces on a solution that embeds a forensic digital watermark on live video streams, helping broadcasters and rights owners combat online piracy.
The platform is already being used by leading global sports streaming companies that provide fans with access to premium live and on-demand sports content, said the companies.
The solution embeds a unique identifier directly into the live video feed, which makes it possible to trace the content back to the source and take swift action to shut down illicit streams.
It utilises Irdeto’s advanced live watermarking technology which M2A Media has integrated into the encoder, giving broadcasters, OTT platforms and rights owners a scalable, cloud-native approach to content protection.
