Grass Valley and Lawo have announced a collaboration designed to advance interoperability and support the direction of travel set out by the European Broadcasting Union’s (EBU) Dynamic Media Facility (DMF) and co-supported Media eXchange Layer (MXL).
Focused on validating orchestration, control and media exchange integration between Grass Valley AMPP and Lawo Home, the collaboration aims to support the broad industry move towards hybrid production environments, meeting users’ needs for best-of-breed platforms to work seamlessly together without bespoke integration. The partnership reinforces both organisations’ commitment to the provision of open and flexible media infrastructures across both hardware and software.
The project’s initial focus will be on validating interoperability between AMPP and HOME across control, orchestration, media transport and exchange, and security-first operational monitoring. Use cases including multi-platform routing, cross-environment resource visibility and MXL-aligned exchange between software-based media functions will be explored.

Both AMPP and HOME enable software-based live production and media workflows, allowing deployment across cloud, edge and hybrid ecosystems. Aiming to reduce integration friction and boost the adoption of open, dynamic media facilities, the partnership will focus on facilitating flexible, multi-vendor media operations at scale.
