Tokyo Olympics gets underway as Sky adds 4K HDR

Sky is today rolling out 4K HDR options for its coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which it will continue to deploy for the English Premier League from 13th August

With the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games currently getting underway with the official opening ceremony,  Sky is today rolling out 4K HDR options for its customers to watch the Games on compatible devices.

Coverage in the UK and Ireland is being provided by the BBC, RTE in Ireland, Eurosport, and discovery+. Eurosport will broadcast coverage on its two pain channels along with red button content which will include seven HD pop up channels, with Sky UHD customers able to view Eurosport 4K, which is available in HDR for the first time for those with compatible Sky Q boxes and TVs.

Sky will also be deploying HDR for its Premier League football coverage, which starts on August 13, which will be delivered in both 5.1 and Dolby Atmos.

Sky has set up a dedicated Olympics page for its Sky Q customers where live coverage and catch up content will be available from Sky Sports News, BBC and Eurosport, together with Olympic schedules, medal table, and news headlines.
