US satellite broadcaster Dish Network has reportedly been hit by a cyber attack that is impacting its apps and websites.
According to multiple reports, Dish.com, the Dish Anywhere app and several websites and networks owned by the company have been affected. When customers contact the company’s call centre it is not available.
Audiences are also said to be having trouble signing into TV channel apps such as MTV and Straz via their Dish credentials.
Dish’s remote employees have also been unable to log into the company’s IT systems.
The company’s Twitter account is advising customers that “an internal systems issue is impacting some of our customer service operations”.
According to BleedingComputer.com, a source claims that Dish has “been hit” by a cyber attack, however, this has not been confirmed by the company.
In 2021, US media company Cox Media Group, which owns 57 TV and radio stations across 20 American markets, was hit by a ransomware attack.
In March of the same year, Australian broadcaster Nine was forced to abandon its Sydney newsroom and revert to using whiteboards and moving production staff to other cities following a cyber attack.
