Dish Network confirms it has been the victim of a cyber attack

The company also confirmed that data has been stolen from the systems targeted by the attack

US satellite broadcaster Dish Network has confirmed it has been hit by a cyber attack that impacted its internal communications and customer support systems.

As TVBEurope reported earlier this week, Dish.com, the Dish Anywhere app and several websites and networks owned by the company were affected.

Audiences also had trouble signing into TV channel apps such as MTV and Straz via their Dish credentials.

In a filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Dish Network said it “determined that the outage was due to a cyber-security incident and notified appropriate law enforcement authorities”.

The company also confirmed that data has been stolen from the systems targeted by the attack.

“On February 27, 2023, the Corporation became aware that certain data was extracted from the Corporation’s IT systems as part of this incident. It is possible the investigation will reveal that the extracted data includes personal information,” it added.
