Speculation is increasing that one of the streaming giants could be preparing a bid to UEFA Champions League rights after the governing body changed the tender process.

According to Bloomberg, UEFA is changing the tender process to allow broadcasters and streaming services to bid for the rights in multiple markets at the same time, thus making the tournament more attractive to the likes of Netflix, Prime Video, etc.
The report quotes an unnamed source at UEFA as saying the governing body for football in Europe is now discussing the potential for longer-term contracts, which could, possibly, include the opportunity for one streaming service to show a match around the world for the first time.
UEFA is set to begin the tender process for the next round of rights, which begin in 2027, in the coming weeks.
Currently, in the UK, TNT Sports shares the rights with Amazon’s Prime Video, which also holds rights to UEFA’s club competitions in Germany and Italy.
