BT Sport launches Watch Together for small screen app

New feature is currently in beta testing

    By Jenny Priestley

    Published: June 20, 2020 ⋅ Updated: June 23, 2020

As the Premier League returns to BT Sport, the broadcaster has launched a beta version of its new Watch Together feature for the small screen version of its app.

The broadcaster said it is aiming to launch Watch Together officially for the start of the next season, but has decided to make it available now for fans watching matches on the BT Sport app on iOS and Android devices.

At this stage it is not available on the large screen BT Sport app or BT TV, Sky, TalkTalk or Virgin Media.

Watch Together enables football fans to watch, see and chat with friends in a split screen view while the match is being played.

BT Sport subscribers can send or receive links to watch the game, with four friends able to watch the same stream simultaneously.

It warned fans that they may notice their streams speeding up or down in order for it to remain in sync with everyone else in the room, “This can take up to 45 seconds but is usually faster than that,” said BT Sport.
