BBC records biggest ever UHD event during France v Senegal

The broadcaster's second-screen 3D Experience was used more than a million times during the first week of the tournament

The BBC has revealed its UHD stream of the FIFA World Cup 2026 match between France and Senegal on 16th June was a record breaker.

Fans can watch UHD streams on BBC iPlayer.

According to the broadcaster, the match was the biggest ever UHD event on the BBC at over 600k concurrent streams.

The BBC added that its second‑screen 3D Experience was used more than 1 million times in its first week.

Alex Kay-Jelski, BBC director of sport said: “On top of the millions flocking to live games—even in the middle of the night—it’s fantastic to see the appetite for our on-demand World Cup coverage has sky-rocketed.

“We’re delighted to see the influx of young audiences using our 3D tool and games.”
