TV5MONDE puts Smode at the heart of its main studio set update

The integration aims to power smoother, more collaborative and truly real-time content management for the French-language broadcaster

As part of a wider modernisation programme, French-language broadcaster TV5MONDE has selected Smode to drive the new visual identity of its main studio set.

Centred around the Smode real-time composting and media server platform and designed by Panoramic 7, the new set features a reimagined visual architecture incorporating augmented reality (AR).

All studio screens, the central totem and AR are controlled by a Smode server integrated directly into TV5Monde’s nodal system, aiming to ensure visual consistency and streamline broadcast delivery. A full graphics package with logo, lower thirds and screen animations has been provided by the 17Mars agency.

Collaboration between the graphics teams, journalists and Smode operator supports more dynamic and human-centred news delivery, said the company. The transition process was assisted through training provided by Erwan Tehel, Smode’s head of training and product specialist.

Nicolas Renard, director of productions for TV5MONDE, explained, “The aim of this redesign was also to improve the working environment and comfort for journalists and production teams.”

Nicolas Bruxer, production and project manager at TV5MONDE, commented, “The use of Smode in the new set design has optimised responsiveness between editorial ideas and the on-air deployment of new graphic scenarios, meeting the demands of daily live broadcasts.”
