Sky Sports goes sustainable for new Premier League season

Liverpool v Leeds will be the first live Premier League broadcast to achieve certification

Sky Sports has announced all of its coverage of both the Premier League and EFL 2020/21 season will be albert certified.

According to Sky, its coverage of Liverpool v Leeds on 12th September will be the first live Premier League broadcast to achieve certification for the highest standards of sustainable production.

The ‘Season of Sustainability’ is part of Sky’s aim to become net zero carbon by 2030.

Steve Smith, executive director of content, Sky Sports said: “Seeing the albert certification stamped on our new season football productions is a proud moment for the Sky Sports team.

“We’ve been working hard to make our live productions more sustainable and it’s is a big achievement on Sky’s overall ambition to be net zero carbon by 2030.”

As well as Sky’s coverage of live matches in the Premier League, EFL and Carabao Cup, Sky Sports News’ coverage of Transfer Deadline Day on 5th October will also be a certified albert sustainable production.
