Poll: Ingest flexibility most important issue for live studio production

Findings from our How Modern Ingest Platforms Enhance Live Studio Production webinar

A poll by TVBEurope and Rohde & Schwarz has found ingest server flexibility to manage different workflows is viewed as the most important issue for live studio production workflows in the coming year.

The poll was carried out as part of our How Modern Ingest Platforms Enhance Live Studio Production webinar.

The audience was asked to vote on what they thought would be the the most important issue for live studio production workflows.

The options were: transition to IP and fully IP-based workflows; remaining in SDI but with a move to UHD; flexibility of ingest servers to manage different workflows; and efficiency of ingest servers to perform multiple functions simultaneously.

Ingest flexibility was voted the most important, receiving 40 per cent of the votes cast.

Transition to IP and fully IP-based workflows was close behind with 33.3 per cent of the votes.

Efficiency of ingest servers to perform multiple functions simultaneously was selected by 20 per cent of the audience, and remaining in SDI but with a move to UHD picked up 6.7 per cent of the votes.

The webinar featured a number of topics including whether ingest solutions could be beneficial in playout environments, how ingest solutions can support the key drivers of change in broadcast production, and what hurdles need to be overcome for a smooth integration of UHD workflows.
