Appear’s X5 platform has been selected to support live contribution workflows for DP World Tour golf events.
In what the company said is its first international deployment, the processing platform will be used by Cingularity, IMG’s broadcast fibre service provider, to contribute HEVC video from DP World Tour tournaments to its Stockley Park studio for onward distribution.
Designed to meet the needs of high-value, smaller-scale live productions, the X5 provides the core strengths of Appear’s X Platform in a portable form factor, for deployments where space and power draw are critical, such as regional backhaul, remote workflows, flypacks, OB trucks and mobile rigs, delivering ultra-low latency contribution, high-quality compression and resilient media transport. Integrating into SDI and IP-based infrastructure, the platform supports broadcast-grade resilience features such as SMPTE 2022-7, SRT and IP-FEC, also providing encode/decode in multiple codecs.
