Quantel has unveiled a new addition to the Pablo Rio family – Pablo Rio 2KO. The new model is developed to run on a lower cost PC platform, while providing the “tools, quality and workflow of Pablo Rio.”

It’s available as a turnkey system including storage, video I/O and the full Pablo Rio toolset, or as software only to run on the customer’s own hardware.

It handles content at resolutions up to 4K, includes Stereo3D capabilities and delivers 2K and HD S3D output in realtime. ItÕs also compatible with Quantel’s Neo and Neo Nano colour control panels.

“Many post houses and broadcasters are excited by the power, quality and capability of Pablo Rio but they don’t require its top-end 4K capabilities,” said Quantel sales director Martin Mulligan. “Pablo Rio 2KO is the perfect answer for them, delivering all the tools, interactivity and workflow advantages they admire but optimised for mainstream HD, S3D and 2K needs in a package that will meet their budget expectations.”

Pablo Rio 2KO turnkey systems will be available in October, and software-only before the end of the year.

Quantel is also showing the fourth feature release in six months for Pablo Rio. The new software adds support for several new digital capture and file formats, enhanced colour control, and editing and conform improvements. New digital capture format support includes soft-mounting of Canon RAW, ARRI RAW, as well as import and soft-mount of Blackmagic Cinema DNG and Sony XAVC. A range of QuickTime soft-mount codecs are also now supported. Editing and conform improvements cover F65 files and re-linking of Avid media.
