Arri has added to its SkyPanel LED soft lights with the new S120-C, the largest of the range. It is twice as long as the S60, but weighs nearly the same.
A large surface area is a useful feature of a soft light, so the S120 outputs a soft, even beam of light that wraps light around objects and is perfect for vertical lighting of people.
It also works well as an overhead light for large areas, where fewer lights and less cables are required. It retains the same features and colour tuneability as its smaller counterparts and consumes less than 400 Watts.
It is slightly brighter than the S60-C, offering 90 lumens per Watt.
There is also a new handheld USB remote control unit for all SkyPanels (useful if the light is high up on a light stand), plus a firmware update that brings additional features, including: master/slave mode; expanded gel library (now 318 colours) and DMX protocol (allowing fades between two gel colours); xy coordinate DMX protocol (for colour selection); battery low voltage warning; and control panel lock.
