ABOX42 has announced a partnership agreement with German cable operators to enable the widespread adoption of its advanced IPTV set-top box platform in Germany.
Members of the Deutsche Netzmarketing (DNMG) association will now be able to provide a customer offering based on the M20-Series SmartSTB platform from ABOX42, as part of a white label IPTV offering.
The platform is fully integrated with the Zattoo IP-based TV system and contains a rich linear TV channel line up, delivered over IP in SD and HD quality. In addition the system contains all standard DVB features, such as DVB-Teletext and multi audio, as well as offering PVR functionality and second screen control, including integrated remote programming.
The system also offers a configurable bouquet of IP-based OTT services, such as HbbTV for the major German broadcast channels and VOD.
ABOX42 claimed that users of the platform will be able to launch their custom TV product with very short project lead times, low project management effort and minimal set up cost. This would make it possible and affordable for almost any operator, city carrier or ISP to deliver a modern and compelling multiscreen TV solution to its customers, claimed the company. ABOX42 added that the platform also offered the opportunity for smaller and medium-sized operators and city carriers to enter the TV space and to provide triple or quad play offerings to develop their customer base and enrich user experience.
DNMG comprises 185 German network operators serving a total of around 5.5 million households with cable TV, internet and telephony.
ABOX42 said the partnership agreement would allow DNMG members to provide an IP-based total TV system, both for the first screen based on the ABOX42 Set Top Box platform, and for second screens.
DNMG General Manager Ingo Schuchert said, “[This] is the first real end-to-end white label multiscreen TV solution in the market. We made an intensive survey, and decided for Zattoo and ABOX42, since their solution offers all advanced features we require and has a proven track record in the market.”
