Artel Video Systems has appointed David Traverse as vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Prior to joining Artel, Traverse served in strategic financial roles for companies in the mobile, cloud-based management services, and telecoms industries.
Josh Berger will take over as chair of the BFI (British Film Institute) in February, and will serve a term of up to four years. Berger is currently a governor at the BFI and the president and managing director of, Warner Bros. Entertainment UK, Ireland and Spain. Welcoming the appointment Greg Dyke, current chair at the BFI, commented, “Josh has been at the heart of film in the UK for more than 20 years. He values and understands the spirit of independent filmmaking alongside the brilliance of our crews and facilities that are all so in demand worldwide.”
Euro Media Group (EMG), has named Ronald Meyvisch (pictured), new technology officer since 2011, as its new CTO. He will report directly to Thierry Drilhon, chairman and CEO of Euro Media Group, succeeding Luc Geoffroy, CTO since 2007.
Philippe Bernard (pictured) has succeeded Olivier Barberot as the new chairman and CEO of Globecast. Bernard joins the company from the Orange Group, where he has served as EVP of quality, customer experience and sales since July 2013. Prior to that he was CEO of Transpac, before joining Orange Group as VP of Orange business solutions, based in the UK, and went on to take over the European sales and customer relations division.
joiz Group is strengthening its management team with the appointment of Antonius Salis to the role of chief business development officer. This new position has been created to drive global expansion for the company, identifying and developing opportunities for joiz Global’s community marketing platform and branded channels.
Clark Novak has joined Lawo as radio marketing specialist. He was previously marketing manager for The Telos Alliance, where he was instrumental in helping to launch and establish the Axia brand. “We are very happy to have Clark on board. His unique perspective gained from time spent on both sides of the broadcast microphone makes him the perfect fit for the growing Lawo radio team,” said Mike Dosch, Lawo’s director of virtual radio projects.
Media consultancy group Marquis Media Partners has appointed Andrew Ioannou as managing partner. Ioannou, formerly director of technology strategy and director of broadcast and production technology for ITV, will now lead Marquis Media Partners’ push to broaden its reach across the global media space.
Alan Ryan will join Net Insight as its vice president of global sales. Ryan has more than 25 years of experience within the telecoms and IT industry with extensive experience of international sales management focused on partnerships, alliances and channel management.
The board of governors at the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), has formally approved the creation of the SMPTE UK region and appointed Bruce Devlin, chief media scientist at Dalet, to serve as its first governor. The SMPTE UK section grew from 83 members in 2012 to more than 500 members in 2015. Devlin had previously been elected by the membership to serve as 2016-2017 governor for the Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Central, and South America Region. The SMPTE board of governors has now appointed Siegfried Foessel, head of the department of Moving Picture Technologies at Fraunhofer IIS, to assume that role while Devlin will represent the SMPTE UK region on the board.
Matthew Weiner (pictured), has been appointed as a senior strategist by international creative content company, The Moment. He joins a growing content strategy team, led by Sandra Peat, and will help to create and execute strategies and inspire creative solutions for The Moment’s brand clients.
Genelec has hired Thomas Lund (pictured), as senior technologist. In his new position, Lund will focus on professional audio, in particular film, broadcast, post production and music production. “I worked for 18 years at TC Electronic with some of Denmark's finest engineers; firstly as technology and product manager responsible for System 6k, broadcast devices and other high-end projects, and later as CTO focusing on immersive sound, ITU/EBU loudness, ‘true-peak' level and sound exposure,” commented Lund.
