Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company Higher Ground has unveiled a slate of Netflix projects.
These include an adaptation of Michael Lewis’ book The Fifth Risk, a period drama set in the fashion world written by Callie Khouri, and a biopic of Frederick Douglass.
The former President and First Lady established Higher Ground last year. The company announced a total of seven projects, all in various stages of development and slated for release over the next few years.
Barack Obama said: “We created Higher Ground to harness the power of storytelling. That’s why we couldn’t be more excited about these projects.
“Touching on issues of race and class, democracy and civil rights, and much more, we believe each of these productions won’t just entertain, but will educate, connect, and inspire us all.”
