BBC to stream first MLB games played in Europe

The New York Yankees play the Boston Red Sox at London Stadium on 29th and 30th June

The first two Major League Baseball (MLB) games to be played in Europe will be shown live on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.

The New York Yankees play the Boston Red Sox at London Stadium on 29th and 30th June, and the games will be shown as part of a two-year deal between MLB and BBC Sport to stream the London Series in the UK.

The NBA and NFL already stage regular-season basketball and American football fixtures in London, while the MLB has also taken games to Mexico, Japan and Australia.

BBC Sport live streaming executive editor Victoria Cotton said: “We’re very excited to bring the MLB London Series to free-to-air audiences across the country for the first ever time this summer.

“Our digital platforms are proud to provide coverage of world-class sporting entertainment and MLB will bring a new level of interest to our channels.”
