Western Europe pay-TV providers are set to see their revenues drop by nearly £5 billion between 2023 and 2028, according to new figures from Digital TV Research.
The analysts predict the number of viewers watching content via a pay-TV provider will drop by 7 per cent, with revenues falling to £22 billion.
The UK and France will both see revenue drops of almost $1 billion each, predict the analysts.
Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research, said: “IPTV revenues overtook digital cable in 2022. IPTV will surpass satellite TV in 2025 to become the most lucrative platform.”
Satellite TV is predicted to lose $3 billion in revenues between 2022 and 2028 as subscribers convert to platforms that offer broadband connections.
