TVBEurope October/November issue out now

The AI force has awakened within the M&E sector, and we continue our exploration into its current and potential applications, and the conversations around the ethics of automation versus human oversight

The October/November edition of TVBEurope is now available.

In this issue, we return to the discussion around AI, as David Davies explores some of the big ethical dilemmas surrounding the technology, the prospects for meaningful regulation, and the implications for employment and the environment. Our striking cover feature charts the rise of the team at Respeecher, which, five years after its launch, is going from strength to strength (including re-voicing Darth Vader), despite the ongoing war afflicting its home country of Ukraine.

Elsewhere, we showcase the winning entries from the TVBEurope category of Future’s Best of Show awards programme at IBC 2023; talk to #GalsNGear founder Amy DeLouise to hear more about the initiative and its aims to help women already established in the media tech industry find their voice; and hear from Stephen Tallamy, chief technology officer at EditShare, on the importance of learning your craft within the industry.

Education is significant focus of this issue, and Robert Shepherd explores how the virtual production skills gap led to a shortage of qualified and experienced professionals, and how the UK’s ‘inaugural’ degree programme in the field aims to train tomorrow’s experts.
