Sphere completes HOLOPLOT acquisition

HOLOPLOT's proprietary technology enables precise and digital control of sound propagation and localisation to deliver targeted, consistent and immersive audio, said the company

Sphere Entertainment Group has announced it has acquired all remaining shares in 3D audio technology provider HOLOPLOT GmbH.

The live entertainment and media company first invested in HOLOPLOT in 2018, when the two companies partnered to develop Sphere Immersive Sound, powered by HOLOPLOT. Introduced at the Beacon Theatre in New York, the fully integrated concert-grade audio system is also deployed at Sphere’s Las Vegas venue. The acquisition aims to expand Sphere’s capabilities and drive further innovation in immersive experiences and 3D audio technology, said the company.

Focused on sound control, intelligence and quality, HOLOPLOT’s proprietary technology enables precise and digital control of sound propagation and localisation to deliver targeted, consistent and immersive audio. The Berlin-based company will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sphere Entertainment.

Roman Sick, CEO and co-founder of HOLOPLOT, said: “We have worked alongside the Sphere team for many years in developing our technology, and together we have forever changed the live sound experience. As a result of this transaction, HOLOPLOT can accelerate its mission to bring its technologies to more applications and markets, and continue to push audio innovation to new bounds.”
